Kodaikanal
Boating or cycling around Kodai Lake, Coaker's Walk, Pillar Rocks, Guna Caves viewpoint and Bryant Park.
Day 6
Kodaikanal to Madurai
Drive of about three and a half hours to Madurai, stopping at Silver Cascade Falls on the ghat road. Visit Meenakshi Amman temple if time allows, then the airport or station.

Best time to go

Do tourist vehicles need an e-pass for Ooty and Kodaikanal?

Yes. Every vehicle not registered in the Nilgiris (TN-43) needs a free e-pass from epass.tnega.org before it reaches the checkpost, all year round. Ooty and Kodaikanal need separate passes, and there are daily vehicle caps, so apply as soon as the dates are fixed. The rules have changed several times since 2024, so check them again before travel.

How hard is it to get toy train tickets?

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway has very few seats and they sell out quickly, especially in summer and on weekends. Book on IRCTC as soon as the dates are fixed. If seats are not available, drive to Coonoor and do the sightseeing by car.

Is the drive from Ooty to Kodaikanal worth it?

It is a long day. For shorter trips, sell the two as separate packages: Ooty and Coonoor from Coimbatore, or Kodaikanal from Madurai. Keep the combined route for clients who want both and have six days or more.
