6-Day Manali Family Itinerary Template
A six-day Himachal route for families and groups: Manali as a single base, one snow-and-adventure day at Solang, a Lahaul day through the Atal Tunnel, and Naggar and Kullu for culture and river rafting. Built around weather-dependent days so agents can swap safely.
Arrival in Manali
Arrive by overnight Volvo or private car from Delhi or Chandigarh, check in, rest, then an easy walk on Mall Road in the evening.
Hadimba and Old Manali
Hadimba Devi Temple and Manu Temple, lunch and cafés in Old Manali, evening free.
Solang Valley
Half-day at Solang Valley for adventure activities or snow play depending on the season, then a relaxed afternoon.
Atal Tunnel and Sissu
Drive through the Atal Tunnel to Sissu in Lahaul, a waterfall and lake stop, and back by evening. Rohtang Pass is a separate, permit-based option when open.
Naggar and Kullu rafting
Naggar Castle and the Roerich Art Gallery in the morning, then river rafting near Kullu or Bhuntar in the afternoon.
Departure
Breakfast and an early drive back to Chandigarh or Delhi; allow a full travel day for the onward leg.

Best time to go
March to June is pleasant with open roads, and October to December suits snow lovers. Rohtang Pass usually closes for the winter and can shut in bad weather, so keep the Atal Tunnel day as the reliable alternative. July and August bring landslide risk on the Kullu–Manali highway.

How long is the journey from Delhi to Manali, and should it be in the quote?
The road journey from Delhi is long, usually 12 to 14 hours by road via Chandigarh, and clients often take an overnight Volvo. Itineraries that treat Day 1 as a full sightseeing day cause complaints. Quote the journey explicitly, either as a transport line or as an exclusion, and keep the first day light. A Chandigarh or Bhuntar flight shortens the trip for premium clients.
What if Rohtang Pass is closed?
Rohtang is weather and season dependent and needs a permit for vehicles. Treat it as an optional add-on and not a fixed inclusion. The Atal Tunnel to Sissu gives a comparable high-altitude view most of the year and is far more reliable, which is why this template uses it as the fixed Day 4 plan.
Is this suitable for senior travellers and small children?
Manali sits at roughly 2,000 metres, so most families adjust easily, but clients with heart or breathing conditions should get medical advice. Keep Solang and Sissu on separate days, avoid back-to-back long drives, and note that rafting has age and weight limits set by the operator.
