Best time to go
October to March is cool and comfortable for temple visits and long drives. Gir National Park closes for the monsoon, usually from mid-June to mid-October, so the safari day only works in season. Expect heavy crowds and high hotel rates in Dwarka around Janmashtami.Pricing this trip for a client? Use the free travel quotation format for hotel options, GST lines, inclusions and payment terms.

Frequently asked questions
About this Dwarka, Somnath & Gir template
Which airport should the trip start and end at?
Most local operators use Rajkot's Hirasar airport, which has the most flights, for both arrival and departure. Jamnagar is closer to Dwarka, about three hours by road, but has fewer flights. Porbandar and Diu have smaller airports. Many families travel by train to Dwarka or Okha instead, so confirm how the client is arriving before you quote the first transfer.
How should agents book the Gir safari?
Book only on the forest department's official site, girlion.gujarat.gov.in; the state has warned against private sites selling safari bookings. Permits are for a specific date and time slot, with ID details for each traveller and up to six people per jeep, and weekend and holiday slots sell out early. If no slot is available, offer the Devalia safari park, which is easier to get into and still has lions.
Can this work for a larger pilgrim group?
Yes. Replace the car with a tempo traveller or a coach, and allow extra time at each temple for queues. For senior travellers, split Day 3 by staying a night in Porbandar, and keep Somnath darshan in the morning when it is cooler.
How can it be extended?
Add a night in Diu after Somnath for Diu Fort, Nagoa beach and Gangeshwar temple; it is the most common add-on. For a longer Gujarat circuit, continue from Dwarka to Kutch for Dholavira, the White Rann and Bhuj.
